  • Notifying new circumstances and claims to the firm’s insurers and brokers, and maintaining ongoing communication regarding claims reporting.
  • Assessing insurance coverage issues, providing advice to the firm, and liaising with brokers and insurers as needed.
  • Addressing related professional conduct obligations and collaborating with the COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice) and General Counsel on such matters.
  • Recommending appropriate claims and costs reserves when necessary.
  • Assisting with the management and resolution of circumstances/claims, and liaising with panel solicitors when required.
  • Maintaining the firm’s internal claims bordereaux (register or summary).
  • Supporting the management and resolution of client complaints.
  • Assisting with the firm’s PI renewal process, including attending meetings with insurers and brokers, and preparing proposal information.
  • Identifying and monitoring key trends, conducting root cause analysis, and suggesting improvements to approaches and processes.
  • Monitoring emerging claims risks both internally and externally.
  • Providing training to fee earners and business services regarding PI risks.
  • Staying up to date with current legal and regulatory risk guidance, consultations, and best practices, including those issued by the SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority), the Law Society, and relevant jurisdictions, and ensuring fee earners and staff are informed of significant changes.
