JOB TITLE: Construction Senior Associate

Key information:
This role offers an opportunity to support a wide array of construction matters, representing commercial, institutional, public sector, charity, and private clients. The primary responsibilities of the position include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of industry-specific and general commercial contracts involving various stakeholders in construction projects.
- Representing a diverse client base, including builders, property developers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, landowners, and funders.
- Collaborating closely with professionals from different disciplines, such as project managers and monitors.
- Drafting and negotiating building contracts, both based on standard forms (JCT and NEC) and customised building contract forms.
- Preparing and negotiating professional team appointments.
- Drafting and negotiating supplementary documents, including pre-construction services agreements, collateral warranties, parent company guarantees, construction cost account arrangements, and performance bonds.
- Assisting the Real Estate and Corp/Commercial departments with construction-related due diligence.
- Supporting colleagues in the Real Estate and Planning/Infrastructure teams in handling development agreements and construction obligations in various legal documents.
- Fulfilling any other duties reasonably required by the Partners.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Ideally a minimum of 6 years in construction law, with a primary focus on non-contentious construction work.
- Strong expertise in transactional construction work within property and/or infrastructure sectors.
- Enthusiasm for construction law as a practice area, coupled with strong technical knowledge and drafting skills.
- Essential familiarity with various methods of construction procurement and a comprehensive understanding of standard forms of construction contracts.
- Experience in advising on the construction aspects of agreements for lease, facility agreements, forward funding agreements, and construction-related security documents.
