Key information:

The candidate, reporting to the Head of Legal and Regulatory Risk, will be responsible for addressing a wide spectrum of risk and compliance-related inquiries and initiatives originating from various facets of the business. This role encompasses both day-to-day tasks and involvement in Risk Management as well as firm-wide projects as required. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and nurturing internal relationships across the organisation to achieve risk project objectives.
  • Creating, maintaining, and updating the firm’s risk management policies, controls, procedures, and guidance notes.
  • Assisting with matters related to professional conduct, including client account inquiries and occasional fee earner questions.
  • Collaborating with other Risk Lawyers to oversee the Risk Management inbox.
  • Sharing knowledge within the team and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Developing and delivering risk training to relevant practice groups and business services teams, along with promoting general awareness among partners and employees.
  • Serving as an escalation point to the Business Acceptance team for intricate and challenging conflict of interest and financial sanctions issues.
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the risk and compliance sector, including those pertinent to the firm’s international offices, and ensuring that fee earners stay informed of significant changes.
  • Editing and drafting articles for the Risk Management Team’s regular newsletter, directed at fee earners and business services employees.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of major firm-wide initiatives and projects.
  • Assisting colleagues in Business Services teams with risk management concerns, including reviewing supplier agreements.
  • Reviewing and providing guidance on outside counsel terms and client-requested modifications to the Firm’s Standard Terms of Business and Matter Engagement Letters.
  • Assisting with data protection compliance, which includes handling subject access requests and managing data breaches.
